There are many things one looks forward to in life. Graduation, marriage, babies, children’s graduations and their marriages. But somehow, I never thought much about grandchildren. Maybe because I had my first child at 16 and my 4th at 29. So I actually was parenting children at home for over 30 years! Not a lot of time to think about my children’s children.
But Gods timing is so good. Yesterday, my oldest daughter gave birth to a girl, 6 lbs 5 oz and 18 in long. Waiting outside the birthing room I started thinking, “my baby is having a baby”! It was an unbelievable feeling. Pride, joy, and the feeling that life is so precious, and God is so good to send us this sweet bundle of joy. It was amazing to me how much joy we have felt anticipating the arrival of this baby.
Lisa was in labor at home late Thursday night and into the moring on Friday. She decided to call the doctor at 8:00 am on Friday morning. He told her to come in to the office. After checking her he sent her over to the hospital. By 10:00 am she was in active labor and the doctor told her he thought we would have a baby by dinner time that night. He came back at lunch, and checked her, and looked right us and said, “you are complete!” We thought he was joking.
Within one hour we had our sweet baby! Caroline Isabella Priester, my first grandchild. I can’t wait to take her on long walks at the beach. To tell her how wonderful her Mommy and Daddy are. And to tell her all about her Uncle Gregory. I want her to know that her arrival brought the joy back in to my life.
